INTRODUCTION:- Fringe benefits, or that part of the total compensation package other than pay for time worked provided to employees in whole or in part by employer payments, play a major role in the structuring of compensation packages (Williams, 1995:1097). INTRODUCTION &OBJECTIVE -

A mutual fund is just the connecting bridge or a financial intermediary that allows a group of investors to pool their money together with a predetermined investment objective. The mutual fund will have a fund manager who is responsible for investing the gathered money into specific securities (stocks or bonds). Right now in INDIA there is a very big prospect for the mutual fund investment, accordingly I have taken the following objectives for this study .

1.       To Analyse the trends in returns of selected mutual fund.

2.       To understand the functions of an asset management company

3.       To understand the performance of various schemes using various tools to measure the performances

4.       To measure and compare the performance of selected mutual fund schemes of different mutual fund companies and other asset management companies

Problem statement Literature review

Mutual funds are dynamic financial intuitions which play crucial role in an economy by mobilizing savings and investing them in the capital market. The activities of mutual funds have both short and long term impact on the savings in the capital market and the  national economy. Mutual funds, trust, assist the process of financial deepening & intermediation. To banking at the same time they also compete with banks and other financial intuitions. India is one of the few countries to day maintain a study growth rate is domestic savings.

The Indian population is largely under-banked with a very low level of financial inclusion leaving room for further penetration. The extent of under-penetration in the market is a sore point with the banking and financial services industry, with a large amount of savings being channelised into gold and real estate rather than the capital market. The GDP growth has slowed down, sluggish at 5% in 2017-18, with savings and investment rates following a downward trend. In 2015-16, the savings and investment rates were 34% and 36.8%, respectively, which declined to 30.8% and 35%, respectively, in 2016-17 and 31.8% and 35.4% in 2012-13. Comparing India to other countries, we realise how financial inclusion is yet to be achieved. While the UK and the US have 25.5 and 35.7 branches per 0.1 million  adults and developing countries such as Brazil have 13.8 branches per 0.1 million adults, India is at a staggeringly low figure of 10.9 branches per 0.1 million adults.
